Susan specializes in the treatment of eating disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns. She takes a collaborative and supportive approach that emphasizes emotional healing and personal growth. She holds a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, and received a certificate in the integrated treatment of eating disorders from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy.

Susan knows firsthand that struggling with an eating disorder can consume your life. She understands that eating disorders are about complex issues — “everything else in life” other than the food — and that symptoms are a way of coping with what can’t be expressed through words. Utilizing psychodynamic interventions, EMDR and behavioral techniques such as CBT, DBT and mindfulness, Susan helps her clients access and express their emotions, find relief from symptoms, cultivate self-compassion as part of the healing process, and become motivated to engage in life more fully.

FAMILY THERAPY

CLINICAL SUPERVISION

In individual therapy, we use evidence-based treatment techniques to help individuals recover from their eating disorders, PTSD, and co-occuring disorders. We strive to help our clients accept their body’s natural shape, no longer experience intense negative emotions due to weight or food, stop compromising their physical or emotional health due to the eating disorder, and cope with negative emotions in healthy ways. We also understand the significance of close relationships and help our clients form stronger connections with others.

We provide family therapy to guide families through the difficult process of supporting a loved one with an eating disorder.

We provide clinical supervision for LMSWs working towards their LCSW and other clinicians looking to enhance their clinical skills.  We tailor supervision to the individual goals of the clinician and the clients the clinician is treating.  We have experience working in several different levels of care (outpatient, IOP, PHP, and residential) and treating many different diagnoses and psychosocial stressors.  We love providing supervision for clinicians who are passionate about this field and excited to learn and improve.
