ABOUT TRIMBLE THERAPY
Learn About My Methods
The mission of my practice is provide effective therapy to help individuals with eating disorders and co-occuring disorders recover. I am passionate about this work and I truly care about the physical, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing of each individual and family I work with.
Many individuals with eating disorders also struggle with other mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, and personality disorders. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP), and Internal Family Systems to help individuals recover from both their eating disorder and their other mental health concerns. I also use a trauma-informed approach during all of my interactions with clients and their families.
For individuals struggling with OCD, Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP) is the leading treatment. ERP is also effective for alleviating other forms of anxiety, including panic, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety. I have treated individuals using ERP for the past 4 years.
Trauma treatment is an important part of treatment for many individuals with eating disorders. In addition to the trauma treatment I have provided for individuals with eating disorders, I also worked as a trauma therapist at an agency whose mission is to provide effective trauma treatment to survivors of trauma. When I work with survivors of trauma, I allow the client to determine the pace of trauma treatment.
I offer in-person therapy to individuals in or near New York City and I provide tele-therapy (therapy through video chat or phone) to individuals in New York state, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota. In the next few weeks, I will be accepting clients from Wisconsin and Michigan.
I strongly believe all individuals deserve love, acceptance, health, and wellbeing. I welcome individuals of all genders, races, ethnicities, national origins, immigration status, range of abilities, sexual orientations socioeconomic statuses, and religions.
Brittany Trimble, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has specialized in eating disorder treatment for the past 5 years.
I received my master’s degree from the Columbia University School of Social Work and my bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. I have provided eating disorder treatment in several levels of care. Most recently, I provided outpatient eating disorder therapy at Therapy for Success in Philadelphia. Prior to this, I was the Primary Therapist at the residential Eating Disorder Center at Rogers Memorial Hospital in Wisconsin, one of the leading residential treatment centers for eating disorders. This treatment center is also well-known for the treatment for individuals with both an eating disorder and OCD. My graduate school clinical internship was at Monte Nido in their partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.
I'm currently a professional member of IAEDP and AED.
In individual therapy, I use evidence-based treatment techniques to help individuals recover from their eating disorders and co-occuring disorders. I strive to help my clients accept their body’s natural shape, no longer experience intense negative emotions due to weight or food, stop compromising their physical or emotional health due to the eating disorder, and cope with negative emotions in healthy ways. I also understand the significance of close relationships, and I help my clients form stronger connections with others.
I provide family therapy to guide families through the difficult process of supporting a loved one with an eating disorder.
I provide clinical supervision for LMSWs working towards their LCSW and other clinicians looking to enhance their clinical skills. I tailor supervision to the individual goals of the clinician and the clients the clinician is treating. I have experience working in several different levels of care (outpatient, IOP, PHP, and residential) and treating many different diagnoses and psychosocial stressors. I love providing supervision for clinicians who are passionate about this field and excited to learn and improve.
